Streamer Spotlight : Ms Jewel

Webster defines a Jewel as “a precious stone” so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Ms. Jewel keeps up the reputation as precious. Since joining Noble eSports in April Ms. Jewel has become a precious member of the team with her personality and overall attitude within the team and on Twitch.  Jewel has combined a genuine personality in connecting with people and her mindset of doing “what you’re passionate about.” When Jewel first began attending college at she began her major in Biomedical Science to become a Veterinarian. Throughout high school, she always had a dream of having a job in the creative field but instead went a path that seemed more accepting to her family and friends. “A year passed and I was in complete misery, my grades were suffering and I was having a difficult time fitting in. That’s when I made the risk to change my major to do something that I was passionate about, transfer universities, and move to a new city. Four years laters, I am happy to say that I have my degree in Graphic Design as well as being a content creator for Twitch. “

You recently graduated from college! What did you attend for, and how was it streaming while finishing up your schooling?

I recently graduated with a bachelors in Graphic Design. Streaming while finishing school was pretty tough for me as I may have prioritized streaming over schoolwork at times. This may not have been the best decision, but I had a supportive community that told me to keep pushing through. There were even some friends that would keep me company while I was finished up my many projects.

When did you start streaming? What inspired you to begin streaming?

When I started streaming on March 3, 2016, I did not expect to become famous or to make any sort of money. In the mix of a bad relationship and feeling stressed about my major, I just wanted to try something different. I was looking to meet new people that shared a similar interest in gaming. In a little over a year, I have found everlasting friendships and a community that means the world to me.

What Games Do You Currently Play / Plan on Playing in the Future?

As a variety streamer, I play several multiplayer games such as Rocket League, H1Z1: King of the Kill, and PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. I also enjoy single player story games, such as The Last of Us, Little Nightmares, and the Uncharted Series. Games I am looking forward to playing this year are the Crash Bandicoot Remastered Series, The Last of Us 2, and Destiny 2.

What is your Favorite Game?

The Last of Us. JOEL MADE ME BAWL LIKE A BABY.

What Got you Into Gaming?

Growing up, I was an only child and only had a few close friends/family members that I would regularly interact with. I still considered myself to be adventurous as a child, but when I ended up staying indoor because of the hot Texas heat, I would explore the world of Runescape or play classics such as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro on my Playstation. I still remember the late nights I would spend with my friends, going over to play Super Smash Bros on Gamecube or playing Dance Dance Revolution to beat each other’s high scores. Gaming has always been a staple for me throughout my childhood, even if it was nothing more than something to occupy my time with or something to bond with friends over.

If you could play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rocket League

You occasionally spend some time taking on song requests and singing on stream. How long have you been singing / playing guitar? Is that a second passion?

My passion for singing/playing the guitar stemmed from when I started piano lessons at the age of five. I picked up the guitar during high school wanting to learn some chords and it eventually led to me sing covers. Little does anyone know that I was in a raving two-man band that eventually replaced me with someone else… their loss LUL. I love singing and playing instruments but I do not see this as anything more than a hobby.

Have you ever played Competitive eSports Titles Before? If so, What titles? What’s your best accomplishment in these titles?

I have never played competitively in eSports Titles but I have played a few for fun such as Rocket League, COD, H1Z1 and recently some Overwatch.

Each one brings something a little bit different to the table, whether they’re an H1 player, a Rocket League player, they all add to my community. I am so grateful to have them. In my eyes, they are the best.

What are your personal streaming goals for the future?

My personal streaming goals are to continue building my community and connect with new streamers. Another personal goal is to continue spreading a positive attitude throughout the Twitch community and become a partnered Twitch streamer.

Home to a unique and caring community, where many people are truly friends and not just “internet friends”, Jewel’s stream is unlike many others. One of the most supportive and positive people I know, Jewel’s stream is a place you can go when you need to turn the roughest of days around. It’s not often that you can find a streamer who can have such a positive impact on your life but if you are reading this“Streamer Spotlight” then you have done just that. – Sparty, Viewer

How has your time been with Noble eSports?

My time with Noble has been incredible with plenty of warm welcomes. Noble has introduced me to so many great streamers and new friends. Anytime I need advice, there’s no shortage of support from my Noble family!

What is your advice to aspiring Streamers?

Always put yourself first! The mistake many streamers make is overwhelming themselves with streaming which can lead to the point of getting “burnt out”. Your mental health is the most important thing, so it’s important to keep that your #1 priority. “Burning out” can really outwardly affect your attitude towards streaming, and your community will always be able to tell.

I remember in November 2016 I became so overwhelmed with streaming that I took a three-month break to focus on my education and desire to travel. I was nervous to start streaming again, fearing that I may have lost my friends and community from Twitch that I worked so hard to assemble. Taking a break really showed who my friends were and even made my community stronger knowing that they still supported me despite my extended absence from streaming.

Looking back, I will never regret taking this break. Don’t ever be ashamed to put yourself, specifically your mental health, first. If you built your community the right way, they will understand, and your true friends will be there for you.

I am so grateful for everyone that I have met through Twitch, including Noble! I never expected to have such a wonderful and supportive community. Without you guys, I would not be here. I love you all.

Whether she’s playing Uncharted, JackBox Games, H1, PUBG, or sitting in IRL with her guitar – Ms. Jewel has never failed to pull someone into her community and keep them entertained. The people that make her community have shown to be nothing less than caring, genuine and just the right amount of “trolly” to keep Ms. Jewel in check. She has managed to let the passion of succeeding in what she loves and admiring “Joel’s Booty” propel her through the ranks of Twitch. Her future in Streaming is incredibly bright and just a few moments in her stream can show you just how “precious” she can be.
